Hello out there. Welcome to my world. My story starts in the United States, where I was born. Unbenownst to myself at the time, I paved the way for my refugee family to begin a new life. While the other family members spent the rest of their lives in New York City, I emigrated at an early age to France and Norway. Like many others during the 1960’s era of flower power, I met my soul mate, a Norwegian medical student, while studying at a uiversity in France. Once finished, he brought me to Norway, where I have spent most of my life.Still the experiences my family had from Nazi-occupied Europe have always pursued me. They inspired me to write my first book, published in 2021: Birds in a Cage: My Mother’s Holocaust Legacy. It is based on a solid correspondence from family members in Czechoslovakia, Austria and Germany to Japan-occupied Shanghai, where my family lived for nine years. The letters reflect the despair of those who never succeeded in fleeing the country. They reveal as well the drama and sense of guilt of those who could do nothing to hinder their demise. The book is a family production. My husband and two sons contributed to translations, type-setting, photo-editing and book cover design. This makes it a more personal endeavor. Now it’s open to you, the pubiic. I hope you will find the story of my family as moving as it is.Since we retired, my husband and I produce and sell a garage wine from the Fitou district of southern France. It’s a wonderful way of harvesting the goodness of the earth and keeping the bones well-oiled. Santé!Read more about this authorRead less about this author

Vienne, mars 1938.
