Bas Vossen (1966) was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, to a Dutch language teacher and a Psychology professor, as the middle of 3 sons. He studied Dutch language and literature at the Radboud University and went on to study Journalism, as he'd enrolled as reporter at the student newspaper ANS during his studies. He also volunteered at two local youth centers and an oldtimer moped club. Besides that he owned a sailing boat and helped the local Water Scouts.After being an apprentice at a small news paper he realized there was no future for him in journalism apart from some freelance work. For this reason, he enrolled in a fast track course in computer programming, and worked about fifteen years in that field. After meeting his future wife Ilene, they started a band called the Freewheelers Cello Band, and toured all over Europe to eventually settle in Alicante, Spain, and later Salou. When the mayor of that tourist town decided to tax live music venues that also was over and the couple moved to California, where they married and later, bought a classic motor yacht to live in. One of the most working bands in the Central Valley, the Freewheelers made a lot of fans, and performed at festivals like 'River Blues' and 'Covestock'. Each year they're asked to play the local Clamper party; this is one of the many private parties where they're asked to bring their joyful energy. Bas likes to play music, write song lyrics and fantasy stories, but also handy manuals. He first started writing manuals when he started a company called 'Helptekst' in 1999. Due to being overtaxed, Helptekst was ended the following year, but the writing of manuals didn't end there. Building a website for a customer, Bas discovered the free Zen Card software about which he wrote the book 'Maak uw eigen web-winkel met gratis Zen Cart software' for the Dutch speaking audience.
