Melody Kelly is a former elementary school teacher with a passion for children's literature. Her first book, TEACHING FROM THE HEART (Second Edition, pub. 2022), detailed her key takeaways from over a decade spent in the classroom. "I wrote Teaching From the Heart as a love letter to the profession I was leaving. I found myself a bit lost after I stopped teaching. I'd lived by a school schedule in some form most of my life, and it was hard to let go. One day I decided to sit down and write what I believed to be the essence of good teaching--the main principles I had taken away from my time as a teacher. It was supposed to be for me, but when I was done, I realized I wished someone had told me those things when I stepped into my first classroom."Today Melody is happy to spend her time writing her own stories for children, with her first series featuring a curious, mystery-solving mouse named Lulu. Some of Melody's first memories are of her mother reading to her, and she has been reading, writing, and telling stories ever since. When she is not reading or writing, you can find her working in her garden, playing with her pup, Apollo, a loveable and goofy German Shepherd, or traveling with family and friends. Melody has a Bachelors in English from New Mexico State University and a Masters in Teacher Education from the University of Oklahoma. Originally from Mississippi, she has lived in New Mexico, Wisconsin, England, and Florida. She now resides in the Hudson Valley of New York with her husband.
