Most writers learn over time that they have a central theme they return to over and over again. I write about VICTIMS who overcome. If I can inspire readers to draw on the strength that is within themselves, I believe I have done my job well.LOVED TO DEATH, which deals with a serial killer, his wife and his prey is currently available. As is my first suspense novel for adults, WASHED IN THE BLOOD. In each, I present heroines who do not know the depth of their own strength. Women who persevere. My upcoming novel, NO FAULT OF HER OWN, due out by early next year, is completely different from anything I’ve written before; yet it is still about a woman stricken by circumstances she cannot control, who must fight for her life and the life of her son. It is a mother/son love/hate story set on the Texas gulf coast amidst dope-runners and personal tragedies.From junior high on, I knew I wanted to be a writer. I have worked on newspapers and magazines, earning my degree in Journalism from Baylor University, Waco, Texas. My career began as a newspaper reporter writing obituaries and school board meetings, and from there, I graduated to Entertainment Editor of the Tampa (Florida) Tribune. Eventually I became the youngest Women’s Editor in Texas on a daily newspaper.I’ve freelanced in the magazine market, with articles published in Writer’s Digest and numerous church publications. I have written three novels for young adults, all set in historic time periods: THE COUTURIERE OF GALVEZ, leading up to the Great Storm of 1900 on Galveston (Texas) Island;A YANK AMONG US, set on a plantation near Hempstead, Texas, during the Civil War; and REYNA’S REWARD, a War of 1812 story set in the swamps around New Orleans.LITTLE THUMB is a read-aloud rhyming book that explains to young readers why their little thumbs do not want to go into their little mouths.The gist of my books is that anyone can become a victim, possibly through no fault of their own.
