In the 90's I traveled and painted in a multitude of locations, in rented apartments, hotels and in glamorous studios offered by residency programs in half a dozen cities in Europe and Asia. One opportunity lead to another in a haphazard and unpredictable chain.
In Sperlonga I painted in a windowless room in a Moorish tower, In Tokyo I painted on the bed in the tiniest hotel room in the world and in Berlin in a massive storage warehouse in the ex-east which had once been filled with coffee beans. The idea of the 'Itinerant' artist is an honored and historical practice which still has vitality today.
