Randall Blair is a filmmaker, author, and educator. Since 1993, he has created an impressive body of work as a filmmaker. He has created award-winning documentaries, short dramatic films and educational/corporate videos. These films have been shown on PBS stations and on television networks in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary and other countries. His films have been screened in film festivals and film markets including Berlin, Sundance, San Francisco, Aspen, New York Underground, Long Island, Palm Beach, Independent Feature Film, Houston, Wine Country and Angelciti. Mr. Blair’s awards include the Washington Peer Awards for Best Director and Best Scriptwriter, the Pinnacle Award for Excellence in Media Education, two CINE Golden Eagles, four Tellys, an ITVA Bronze Reel, two Silver International Cindys, and two gold and four Silver Medals from Worldfest Houston.Randall has written five novels including the trilogy – The Education of Clark Westfield. The first novel, Lovely Rita, is a coming-of-age story that takes place in 1963, Denver, Colorado. The second novel in the trilogy, Curse of the Nice Guy, jumps to 1966 in London, England, with a side trip to Turkey. And the third book in the trilogy, Clark’s Choice, continues the title character’s journey from 1967 to 1973 as he struggles to become an adult. The fourth novel, Illusions of Home, centers on the intersections of four characters who are all searching for identity and a place to call home. In the latest novel, Pecos, a New York lawyer finds a new home, spiritual identity, family, and love in New Mexico, the land of enchantment. Recurring themes in his work include romantic suspense, a search for identity and belonging, and interculturality. As an Associate Professor of Film and Media Arts in the School of Communication at American University (Washington, DC), Randall created and is Program Director of the graduate program Producing Film, Television and Video. At American University, he teaches courses in film production, directing, producing, and scriptwriting. Professor Blair has also written a textbook, The Producer’s Sourcebook, that is used in college level courses in film and television producing. His textbook is also a learning tool for anyone who is interested in producing independent films or television content.
