RL Monsheimer (Author)
I was a swimmer for a strong age group team, an improving high school team, a small college swimmer, and then masters and did such odd things in swimming as swimming across the Chesapeake Bay twice. While I was an adequate swimmer. Much of the miracles in the novel "One last Swim" did not come from real life, except my last swim in high school, it is the only one I used from personal history. In this book you will get the feeling of academics and sports are greatly important to me. I won the four-year academic athlete award for my time at Fairmont State College. My life and sports are inseparable, as I met my wife of 40 years at a master's team in Rockville, MD. As an adult, I swam and played tennis at a competitive level having been at Nationals in both sports. My work life has been diverse, with numerous years in telecommunications with some of the most interesting projects in the world, working with cruise lines, military, and numerous agencies, from Europe to some of the most rural areas of the USA, even the sewers in Albuquerque, NM. While my degrees from Fairmont State and Southeastern University were financial and later a CPA from the State of Maryland, I have had the fun of combining engineering, finance and operations to many projects whether via satellite or now in 5G. I have been cited numerous times as a "Who's Who in America for Telecommunications." and several other awards at companies such as Verizon, MCI and WinStar for creative solutions. This experience led to the world of writing at Verizon and now as an author.I credit my conversations with John Feinstein as the means of starting to write a book. Not only is John a great writer he was also a very good master's swimmer. I wanted my characters to be believable as you would find in a Clive Custer book. I have spent most of my life in Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC., while the last 3 years have been in Delaware. I spent 4 years in West Virgnia at Fairmont State University, and my love for the small colleges of the state and region are reflected in the book. For the last decade I have coached personal development as a hobby coaching well over 50 individuals during the last decade in making dreams possible for them. It is this coaching, where the story was developed everyone has a dream. I am married to my swimming sweetheart, Mickie, and have 2 children, my son is in Delaware, and my daughter after a college tennis career is a scientist in the DC area.
