Aiden peine à trouver sa place parmi les vampires, et même auprès de Jude. Parfois, il ne sait plus qui il est ni ce qu’il doit faire face à son amant, son âme-sœur, ce qui entraîne des disputes entre eux.

Alors qu’Aiden n’en peut plus, une nouvelle affaire est confiée à l’unité interhumaine. Les mises en scène macabres des meurtres ont un lien avec des coutumes de l’époque victorienne : celles des photos post mortem.

Se gérer, gérer l’arrivée d’un nouveau collègue très spécial au sein de l’équipe, gérer un nouveau tueur en série et gérer leur lien, à Jude et à lui. Et puis, il est encore question de victoriens, et même de vampires de l’Antiquité.

Ne serait-ce pas un peu trop, cette fois, pour le détective Aiden Mills ?Cependant, Aiden ignore les nouvelles ressources dont il est désormais pourvu. En espérant qu’elles suffisent.
