I was born in Lansing, Michigan, and went to grade school in Dearborn, but went to high school in Holly Michigan. After high school, I spent a year at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, then a year at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, and then I went to the Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. I got married in Flint, Michigan before graduating from the Baptist college in 1971 with a Bachelor of Religious Education with majors in Bible and Theology. Then I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. where I worked as a printer running an offset press. I attended night school at Aquinas College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business with an accounting major in 1976. In 1979 I moved to my current home in Dansville, Michigan, where for 30 years I worked for the State of Michigan, mostly for the Geological Survey Division. I retired in 2010.Some of my accomplishments include making Eagle Scout in 1964 and I still enjoy camping and hiking today.I played chess for a while and earned a B rating with the United States Chess Federation. In the 80s I took up bicycling and trained to do the Race Across America. One must qualify to do that race and in 1994 I finally did quality in the Tour of North Texas, but I never did the race. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun doing the 500+ mile qualifying races and got to travel quite a bit.In 1996 I was a little burned out from all the biking, so I tried combining camping with biking and took a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I wrote THE SILVER STILETTO based on my experiences on that trip.In 2003 I went on a two-week horseback riding trip from Oscoda to Empire, Michigan. The trip was a real challenge for me since I've never owned a horse and had little experience. My book THE SNOW WHITE KEDS was based on my experiences from that trip.In 2006 I canoed down the AuSable River from Grayling to Oscoda, Michigan, and wrote THE FUCHSIA CROCS based on that experience. In 2007 I became a runner. I had run as cross-training for bicycling in the past but always considered myself a biker. Suddenly I found myself doing a lot of races and started to consider myself a runner as well as a biker. THE CHERRY RED PUMPS is based on my experiences in the races I did.In 2012 I started finding a lot of four-leaf clovers which inspired me to write LEPRECHAUN SHOES. Other than finding the four-leaf clovers, this book is not based on any experience but is entirely made up.In 2015 I solo rode my bicycle self-supporting from San Diego to St. Agustine, Florida. I camped out when I could find a spot, about half the time, and stayed in motels when I couldn't find a spot. I preferred the camping. Unfortunately, I didn't write anything from this trip, but I did document it with daily Facebook posts.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
