I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, but I just didn’t know how. To quote one of my stories “If You Make a Difference, Your Footprints Will Last Forever.” I wanted to let the world know I was here by making a difference. When my daughter was born I remember shopping for clothes for her. The clothing for little girls had bows, ruffles, and sparkles, which was cute, but not inspirational. I wanted to empower and inspire my daughter. I decided that since I didn’t like the clothing that was out there for girls her age that I would create my own clothing line which I did. My clothing line contained inspirational messages and quotes such as Call Me President Not Princess, My Castle is the White House, Believe in Yourself, and so much more. I lost my clothing company due to management problems within the company. I was devastated as I put so much time, effort, and money into the company. I put my heart and soul into this company, and the thought of closing it down was unbearable. I had to find a way to somehow save my company at the very least the sentiment and ideas behind it, but I did not know how. So I challenged myself by writing several short stories that discuss and explain the meaning behind the quotes and sayings that I had on my clothing. To take everything one step further I taught myself graphic design so that I could do my own illustrations to bring the stories to life. Before long I had written two books both that had the ideas behind my clothing line which are: How to Become a Superhero Unlock Your Superpowers-Strength, Courage, and Self-Love, and A Superhero Is Inside of You. Then I decided to write two more books to help inspire others by learning how to turn negatives into positives which are: Its Raining Lemons and Lemonade. During this whole process of trying to save the ideas and sentiment behind my clothing line I discovered my love for writing. I not only was able to save the ideas behind my product line, but I also saved myself. I was lost for many years working in a career as an attorney that I didn’t really enjoy. Although I helped many people as an attorney, I wanted to do something else that was more creative and inspiring. Now I am a proud author of four soon to be six children’s inspirational books. Each of my books contain several small stories that discuss important topics and issues that we all at some point in time will encounter. Some of the topics in my books are very sophisticated for the age group that I am targeting, yet the stories are told in a way that my targeted audience will relate to and understand. For example, in Its Raining Lemons one of the stories called Peanut Butter & Jelly discusses the importance of getting along with others especially those who may look different than you, have different ideals or beliefs, and that we are stronger together. Discrimination and racism unfortunately still exist, and my hope is that if we teach our children that this is not acceptable and needs to change, that hopefully the world will become a better place. After all children are the future. Another story discusses anxieties and fears and how to overcome them. Another story discusses loving yourself exactly as you are which are issues that many children, especially young girls, struggle with each day. My sixth book is called It’s A Girl’s World, and it discusses topics that many young girls encounter such as not feeling good enough, focusing on inner beauty rather than outer beauty, and being taken seriously as leaders, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers. I love writing because the written word is so powerful and capable of promoting change. The world can be such a difficult place, and in my books I have discussed all of the life lessons I have learned over the years the hard way. My hope is that anyone reading my stories will learn something important and valuable such that they can avoid making the same mistakes in life that I did. Hopefully they won’t have to go through as much hardships or difficulties that I had to go through. Hopefully they will become stronger, more confident, happier, more resilient, and overall the best versions of themselves. To quote another story in my books, “Life is Unwritten, Write it.” Embrace your life which is exactly what I have been doing. Thank you so much for supporting me, and I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I have enjoyed writing them.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
