My real name is Julia Boardman, best known as Miss Jules, and for the past eighteen years, I have had the privilege of teaching a wide range of age groups, from the tender age of six weeks to the spirited realm of eighth graders. My teaching repertoire spans across subjects as diverse as math, music, art, and social/emotional domains. This broad experience has not only honed my instructional skills, but has also deepened my understanding of the unique needs and interests of young learners. Throughout my journey as an educator, I have consistently been inspired by the wonders of science, especially astronomy and physics. These subjects ignite my imagination and find their way into my writing, as I seek to inspire children to explore the fascinating world around them. Drawing from my strong musical background, I craft engaging rhymes and captivating stories that not only entertain but also educate and spark curiosity. Influenced by the timeless works of Dr. Seuss, whose books played a pivotal role in my language acquisition as a child, I aim to create stories that encourage this language development and the love of reading. Much like how my mother, unable to speak English, sat beside us and read those books, I strive to create literary experiences that transcend language barriers and fuel the joy of learning. In addition to my passion for teaching and writing, I bring a unique perspective as a survivor of childhood cancer. Diagnosed with Leukemia at the tender age of two, I have overcome numerous adversities and challenges. This experience, along with others, has prompted me to delve into the realm of adverse childhood experiences, writing stories that address sensitive topics with empathy, resilience, and hope. Furthermore, my upbringing in a military family, my father serving twenty-one years in the army, has instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, perseverance, and adaptability. Growing up on 200 acres in the rolling hills of southern Missouri and subsequently moving to Pennsylvania in 2011, I have developed a deep appreciation for nature’s wonders and the transformative power of new environments. In the near future, I'll be embarking on a new chapter in Ecuador, where I'm co-founding a healing center called Moringa Sagrada. My focus will be on teaching workshops about Moringa harvesting and engaging in various farm projects. Alongside this, I'll be immersing myself in the study of Reiki and massage. As a part of my commitment to the local community, I'll also be teaching English while eagerly learning Spanish from the locals. This exciting venture reflects my dedication to holistic well-being and continuous learning, as I embrace a transformative journey in a new cultural setting.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
