Raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, Charles H. Geletzke, Jr. graduated from high school in 1967 and commenced what would become a 45-year railroad career. Majoring in Marketing, Mr. Geletzke worked his way through Central Michigan University working as a Roundhouse Laborer and later as a Brakeman for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. During his last year of college he worked as a Carman Helper and Switchman for the Delray Connecting Railroad. Author Geletzke graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Additionally, he served in the United States Marine Corps and in the U. S. Army's 226th Railway (Reserve) Shop Battalion. Following graduation he worked for the Delray Connecting, the Missouri Pacific, Grand Trunk Western (again), Detroit & Toledo Shore Line, and the Canadian National Railroads wearing both bibbed overalls and a suit and tie. Chuck and his wife have been married for 46-years and have three married children and seven grandchildren. Now retired for over eleven years, Chuck is active in his church and is the Vice President of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Historical Society. Chuck's interests include woodworking, model railroading, college football (he is a huge Navy fan!), baseball, jazz, and writing for railroad and historical publications and has written eight railroad books.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
