A isoniazida continua a ter um papel proeminente nos regimes de tratamento da tuberculose e da infeção latente por tuberculose, sendo essencial compreender quais os factores que podem estar a contribuir para a sua resistência, de modo a que os clínicos possam tomar decisões de tratamento informadas ao avaliarem os doentes.
