Il ritardo di crescita (n=7) e l'epatosplenomegalia (n=6) erano segni quasi costanti della malattia, seguiti dall'avversione alle proteine (n=5), dal pallore (n=5) e da segni neurologici (n=4). L'ammoniaca era elevata in 6 pazienti.
La cromatografia degli aminoacidi ha confermato la diagnosi in due pazienti. La biologia molecolare ha evidenziato la mutazione del TTCT 1471 in 5 pazienti.
A tutti i pazienti è stata prescritta una dieta a basso contenuto proteico e un'integrazione di citrullina. Le complicazioni della malattia erano frequenti: in tutti i pazienti è stato riscontrato un ritardo nella crescita.
