L'obiettivo di questa ricerca era quello di determinare l'impatto dell'infezione da coronavirus sulla popolazione algerina attraverso un'indagine descrittiva retrospettiva e di identificare le sequele organiche e psicosociali causate dall'infezione, note come Covid long. I risultati hanno mostrato che la metà degli intervistati (52%) presentava sintomi di Covid long, tra cui vari sintomi, i più frequenti dei quali erano dolori articolari (72%), affaticamento (70%), diabete (67%), dispnea (52%), ipertensione arteriosa (44%) e aritmia (37%).
L'ansia è stato il sintomo psicologico più marcato, seguito dalla depressione. Sebbene il ricorso all'ospedalizzazione sia raro, queste forme prolungate della malattia avranno un forte impatto sociale, rendendo necessaria l'introduzione di adeguate misure preventive e pubbliche.
