Carlos is a bitter individual, and a bit messed up too. He’s got a life lesson to impart on the reader.

It’s not complicated. If you’re a single man and you fall in love with a married woman, you’re going to get fucked up.

As far as Carlos is concerned, that’s all anyone needs to know. He knows though, that nobody is going to buy his book for a one page, one chapter, one sentence lesson in life.

Starting with the beginnings of his most recent romance, and ultimately, romantic disaster with his dance partner Pamela, he pauses to give the reader some insight into what has led him here, and how it’s affected him. As he searches for the one, that one person he was destined to love, and be loved by, forever, he encounters the crazy and infuriating Clare who is looking to escape her marriage.

Then the alluring and seemingly angelic Lillian, who isn’t looking to escape anything, but just wants to add a new man into her life. Both he could have been happy with, had it not been for two small complicating factors.

The first, he’s married to Charlotte, the woman he was always destined to love forever. The second, the depression he’s been ignoring for years.

Ignoring until it nearly kills him. And when Carlos finally reaches a point where he figures he’s thrown enough curve balls at himself to last a lifetime, and he finds happiness and content, life decides to throw a curve ball of its own at him.

Once he finally recovers from that, if he’d finally recovered from that, he returns the reader to Pamela. Pamela.

Quite possibly the person he had always been looking for. .
