It is good to be proud and confident and even love yourself - caution is given to be those things in Christ power and love - NOT YOUR OWN.

1 John guides our way. He enlightens us to new/renew fresh very relevant ways to empower each reader to live a close, intimate, and yes, godly life, showing and feeling the love of Christ.
