Author Name
Suzanne Manser (Author)
Suzanne Manser, PhD is a Harvard-trained psychologist and author living in Portland, OR. At age eight, inspired by Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume, Suzanne's first career aspiration was to be an author. She ultimately went a different direction and earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She has been a therapist for over 25 years. During that time, she has helped thousands of patients learn how to accept themselves and transform their lives. With clinical specialties including eating disorders and anxiety, Suzanne is dedicated to helping her patients and readers validate themselves and embrace their self-worth.Though most of her time is spent in private practice, Suzanne has worn a number of hats. She has spoken at conferences and other venues, taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels, served as director of a psychology clinic, supervised therapists, and worked in a day treatment program and a psychiatric emergency room. In her personal transformation memoir, she uses her decades of experience as a therapist, her knowledge of psychological development, and her own healing journey to illustrate how our mothers impact us in deep, enduring ways and how we can reclaim ourselves and transform our lives. This guided journal is a companion to I Hate You (A Love Letter to My Mother): Healing Paper Cuts, Mother Wounds, and Intergenerational Pain. Suzanne created this supportive, structured space for anyone who, like her, has been deeply hurt by their parent and is ready to gain powerful insight and heal.

A Harvard-trained therapist, Suzanne skillfully leads you through a psychological examination of your childhood relationship with your parent. Through a series of thought-provoking prompts and questions, you will learn how your parent's attempts to protect themselves from their childhood became their method of wounding you, and you will see how those wounds impacted who you became.

You will explore your family's specific lineage of pain, including the messages that subconsciously influenced how your parent was treated, how they treated you, and how you have treated yourself. Once you understand the pattern of generational pain, you have the power to end it.

Suzanne also teaches you six personal transformation tools that have made a profound difference for her. With these tools, you will be able to take the insights you've gained and make meaningful, real changes.

As you work through this journal, you will learn how to transcend your inherited pain and create a juicy, fulfilling life. .
