Con Slobodchikoff grew up watching all kinds of different animals. This gave him a deep appreciation for all of nature, and a desire to study the natural world around him. He has observed nature in many parts of the world, studying the behavior of a variety of animals. His work with prairie dogs has shown that these animals have the most sophisticated animal language that is currently known to us. The prairie dog language studies have been featured in a number of TV documentaries, magazines, and newspapers around the world. Con has a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and has taught animal behavior courses for many years. He also has taught dog training classes and worked with people and their pets in solving behavioral problems. He is a Professor Emeritus at Northern Arizona University and Director of the Animal Language Institute.
