Author Name
Seymour Rossel (Author)
Seymour Rossel's thirty-eighth book is called *How to Get God on Your Side: 100 Ways to Connect with God." While some earlier books have fallen out of print, his most popular books are alive and kicking. Look for *Alone and Wrestling* a broad cross-section of Seymour's work through 50 years of writing. For great fun, consider *The Wise Folk of Chelm,* irrepressible legends of the silly side of life. For a comprehensive view of popular Jewish stories, there is *The Essential Jewish Stories.* A guide to Bible for early readers is *A Child's Bible (2 vols.),* For the seeker of biblical wisdom, there is *Bible Dreams: The Spiritual Quest.* (One popular book, *The Torah: Portion by Portion* often appears to be out-of-print but it is actually available quite reasonably at the website of Torah Aura Publishers.) Seymour's books have been adapted as the basis of musicals and one-act theater portrayals and his version of classic stories have been adopted by some right-well-known contemporary storytellers. In addition, Seymour has edited nearly 300 books by many distinguished Jewish authors of our times. Seymour is currently President of RCC, Inc., and of Rossel Books. He served the North American Jewish Reform movement as Director of the URJ Press, Director of the URJ Department of Education, Director of the Commission on Reform Jewish Education, and Dean of the School of Education of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, NY. For many years, he was a member of the national boards of the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE), the Jewish Book Council, and the National Association of Temple Educators (now ARJE). He was Headmaster of Solomon Schechter (now Levine) Academy of Dallas, TX; Executive Vice President of Behrman House, Inc.; and Director of Education for Temple Shalom of Dallas, TX, and Temple Beth El of Chappaqua, NY. Seymour was a founding member of CAJE and served as Chairperson for two international conferences, CAJE 13 and CAJE 21, both held at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. From 2005-2010, Seymour served as the Rabbi of Congregation Jewish Community North in Spring, Texas. As speaker, author, and editor, Seymour is listed in *Who's Who in the Eastern States,* *Contemporary Authors,* *The International Authors and Writers Who's Who,* as well as *Who's Who in World Jewry.* He was prominently featured in Charles A. Madison's history, *Jewish Publishing in America.* He holds the 1980 "Bonei HaNegev" award of Israel Bonds and he was conferred ex-officio membership by the Central Conference of American Rabbis. A renowned storyteller, Seymour lectures widely on archaeology, dreams, folklore, and mysticism; and serves as scholar-in-residence for venues throughout North America. His web site, RosselBooks includes a free on-line book *Basic Judaism on the Web*.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
