I set out to write a history of the Holy Land for a general readership of atheists or believers, Christians, Muslims or Jews, without a political (or religious) motivation, even in these times of conflict. I will recount the history chronologically, tracing the existence of nations, men and women, soldiers and prophets, poets and kings - and the families that made this land.

And that's exactly how I do it: "from King David to Benjamin Netanyahu, from the birth of Judaism, Christianity and Islam to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict", recounting history from its beginnings. Over the course of more than 500 pages, this book is a huge jigsaw puzzle in which bits of our general knowledge are interwoven with things less known or perhaps not even suspected, making several hundred characters, some already famous, others less and unfairly known, flash before your eyes, reviving pictures of ancient life, customs, habits.
