I was inspired by a historical account of the 1974 Turkish occupation of Cyprus and created my characters to be influenced by it in today's world. The aftermath, the chaos, in particular, brought on criminal elements that fed my story. In the process of accuracy in the setting, I traveled to Greece and incorporated what I saw and my love for the islands and the people in my novels. The characters in my novels helped me to write the story.The Shadows of Rhodes is book one of the series. This debut print issue includes ebook #2 (A Dangerous Step), so it is actually the first two books, both edited and expanded; a super good buy.IMPORTANT NOTE: This novel is more or less written in the first person, which should give the reader a sense of being in the experience. This seems awkward to some readers. Almost like following a diary, we get inside the head of Helena, and although some of her choices are not what one would expect, we understand those odd choices.Another thing that has thrown some of my readers is that many characters who come and go throughout the story have spoken accents. Mainly Greek in nature, and the writing is reflecting the way one would speak if English were not their native tongue. Once the flow of the dialog has opened to the reading of broken English, which can be quite funny at times, the portrayal of the characters can then be embraced and enjoyed.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
