After an earlier-than-expected retirement, I revisited a "thing" I wrote many years ago. I wondered if it was any good. How would I know? I shared it with my husband, Stephen, who once made his living as an English teacher and journalist. Ever encouraging, he said, "Yes, I think you should work on this." I joined a writer's group, Penpointers of Northern Colorado, and spent eighteen months fictionalizing the pseudo-memoir into a novel that might appeal to an audience broader than myself.Before that, my primary writing experience was work-related, centering around marketing: newsletters, press releases, and promotional articles for local newspapers and company websites. I credit my love of writing to my parents, two of the smartest self-educated people I ever knew. Then, I credit Stephen with the completion of this book. His support was gentle and loving, and he pushed me to *finish!* Together, we have successfully raised four wonderful children, and we enjoy spending time with them and our grandson. Since Stephen is working on his first novel, and I'm beginning my third (my second novel, "DARE," is with my publisher now!), we spend quality time writing across from each other at our dining table. It's been an unexpected joy in our post-real-work years. When we're not making stuff up (!), we love to travel, manage our fantasy football teams, see live theater, and read.
