I love connecting people to a good story. Sometimes that means tall tales around a campfire, or maybe writing a novel that comes straight from my heart. Best by far is helping people see themselves in the story of God's love for this world. I've been a passionate Jesus-follower all my adult life. At the same time, I love being fully engaged in this world. I delight in backcountry canoeing and camping. I enjoy hunting with a bow, rifle, or shotgun. My wife and I have a small farm in Minnesota where we live with a couple horses, a dog, and a cat. Family is a huge joy for us. We are deeply blessed to be parents and grandparents to some of the greatest people on earth. I have deep roots in Minnesota. I grew up on the farm my great-grandfather bought in 1892. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest, western North Dakota, and various places in Minnesota. I've been privileged to travel, serve, and teach all over the world, including the Philippines, Canada, Honduras, Mexico, and Colombia. At heart, though, I'm a Minnesota farm kid.
