Dieter J. F. Haselsteiner was born in St. Pölten in 1979 and grew up in Ybbs an der Donau (Austria). He has been fascinated by aviation since he was a child, and before and during his studies he worked a part-time job at Vienna Airport, right on the apron - i.e. right in the middle of the action. He wrote his diploma thesis in business administration on the subject of "low fare carriers and their contribution to traffic development in Eastern Europe". The hobby eventually became a vocation and one of the jobs brought Dieter back to Vienna Airport. Despite other professional activities in other sectors, Dieter has never lost sight of aviation, writes books on the subject, and is an enthusiastic frequent flyer.
