Khayal Al Allaq was born in Baghdad Iraq but spent most of her life abroad. She lived the first four years of her life in England where her father pursued his Masters and PhD in Arabic Literature and Criticism. She witnessed two wars in her homeland and had to flee Baghdad right after the Gulf War in 1991. Khayal Al Allaq lived in Sana'a, Yemen for six years (1991 - 1997). Then she moved to the UAE where she has been living for more than twenty years. Khayal has been working in the field of eduction for over 15 years. She has worked as a teacher, head of department and currently a vice principal for pastoral care in a reputable school in Al Ain, UAE. Khayal attained her masters degree in TESOL and also in Curriculum and Instruction. She is currently working on her PhD in Educational Leadership. Khayal's father is an eminent modern Arab poet and critic, Ali Jaafar Al Allaq. Thus, Khayal has always been inspire by his extraordinary ability to forge dazzlingly unique images and literary devices. Her first collection, Mystical Twilight, mirrors different spheres and glimpses from her life and the people in it.
