My purpose in life is striving to make the world a safer place to live, work and play® This is my WHY in life and why I get out of bed each morning. I am currently the Director of Physical Security for American Electric Power (AEP). I am responsible for leading Physical Security for the corporation, which includes the protection of people, information, and assets. I have spent over 25 years in Corporate Security for various industries such as in Utility, Financial, Health Care, and Contract Security Service. In 2018, I created something called "Best Friend Friday" (BFF). These were weekly videos to dispel the myth about having a Best Friend at Work. I post these videos on my company internal intranet and LinkedIn. The original concept of BFF turned into more than a weekly video series and became a movement to improve relationships at work and beyond. Culture, relationships and making this world a better place is a strong passion of mine. I decided to write my book Do You Have a Best Friend at Work - How Friday Became the Day to Celebrate Your Best Friends at Work, to tell the story of how Best Friend Friday got started, and how it has taught me to be a better leader, friend and human. It is a fun journey and BFF is still growing strong and I hope this book brings a new chapter to BFF.I wrote this book only while traveling for work on American Airlines in my favorite seat if I can get it 9D. I also wrote this during layovers in the Admirals club. I don't know if I will ever write another book because right now I have nothing to say. However, time will tell. If you do pick it up and read this book, it will explain how you doing one thing and taking action can make a difference. I have seen that first hand because of how I show up every day and the feedback I receive from people that follow BFF.
