This book talks about imaginary and supernatural creatures such as demon, Jinn, Pari(fairy )and dragons, in the geography of ancient Persia. These fantastical monsters, which, in pre -Islamic theology, representatives of a threatening otherness; became a new appearance and make narratives of the Islamic era and the Iranian popular culture.

Indeed, Islamic literature and Iranian popular culture have bestowed upon demons, fairies, and dragons a renewed visage and persona. The distinction between these awe-inspiring beings, pre and post-Islam, lies in their interpretation.

Prior to Islam, their portrayal held ideological and political undertones, but following the advent of Islam, the inclination to imbue them with aesthetic qualities surpassed their ideological and political significance. The author’s intention is not to ascertain the historical existence of demons.

Rather, what captivates his interest is the profound significance of these ethereal beings, alongside other fantastical creatures, within the realm of Persian fantasy and even the broader tapestry of global fantasy. To grasp the interconnection between demons, fairies, and dragons through the realm of imagination, we must delve deeper into the realm of political power.
