In addition, Owen and Kathy have traveled together frequently, both for business and pleasure.Owen and his wife both grew up on farms in the rural Midwest. Owen credits his early life experiences on the farm for the work ethic that served him well throughout his work career and in his post-retirement endeavors. Owen and his wife have three children and nine grandchildren. Writing was a major part of Owen’s vocation for several years early in his career, as well as a lifelong interest. An avid reader, Owen especially enjoys early and mid twentieth century mysteries, as well as speculative fiction from a wide array of past and modern writers. Non-fiction biographies, histories, and theology are also among Owen’s interests. “My reading choices go through phases,” Owen says. “I’ll spend a few months reading non-fiction, and then switch to Agatha Christie’s mysteries. For me, books written in the past are like time capsules.
