I began my career in Law Enforcement in 1996 as a corrections officer working in Cocke County TN, a small community of about 36,000 residents. In 1997 I was hired as a Deputy Seriff and worked night shift patrol. I spent a few years as a Deputy Sheriff, School Resource officer and in 2010 I ran for Sheriff in my community. I was blessed to be elected in 2010 and took on the position of Sheriff. I ran for office a total of three times and finished a 25-year career in law enforcement with 12 years as an elected sheriff. During my time in office, I created the departments first narcotic division which resulted in millions of dollars of illegal narcotics being taken off the streets of Newport and Cocke County TN. I received two governor appointments, one to the Tennessee Corrections Institute Board of Control, and another to the Tennessee Opioid Abatement Council. I am a graduate from the Walters State Community College, and Walters State Police Academy. I have served as an adjunct instructor at the Walters State Community College, and I currently serve as the East Tennessee Law Enforcement Liaison with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office. I worked part time for the White Pine Police department after I decided to not run for a fourth term in office as sheriff and I worked at Lakeway Christian Academy as a security officer prior to taking the position with the THSO. I am an ordained minister; I have been married to my beautiful Christian wife Jackie for 27 years. I have four children and I sincerely love the Lord.
