La concimazione svolge un ruolo fondamentale nell'aumentare la resa delle piante. La società AGRIVET ha quindi condotto un esperimento sulla concimazione del mais nella regione di Vakinankaratra, una zona di coltivazione del mais.
Lo scopo dello studio era quello di determinare gli effetti di diverse concimazioni sul mais. Sono state testate diverse combinazioni e dosi di fertilizzanti con coperture su mais IRAT 200, una varietà già adottata dagli agricoltori.
Sono stati utilizzati due tipi di fertilizzanti fosfatici, TSP e calcite. Per l'azoto (N) sono state applicate tre diverse dosi: 0Kg/Ha N, 60Kg/Ha N e 120Kg/Ha N.
Sono state utilizzate tre dosi di copertura: 0%, 30% e 60%. .
