The author is a retired detective chief inspector and former head of Brighton CID. He was the senior investigating officer on many murder investigations and, at the detective training college, lectured on Homicide and major crime investigation. In the rank of DCI he also operated in the UK and Ireland with the Counter Terrorism Command. The successful crime writer PETER JAMES penned the DI Roy Grace series, which is mainly based in Brighton, and co-wrote with GRAHAM BARTLETT the book DEATH COMES KNOCKING about true crimes in Brighton. It includes a chapter on a triple murder investigation undertaken by the author and describes him as: ‘The Grace of his time: quiet, intelligent and ruthlessly professional.’Later in the author’s career he was recruited by the Security Service (MI5). For several years he was a member of their Counter Espionage Department and worked in the UK and in the USA with the FBI. As a young detective inspector he was involved in the interrogation of Argentine Commander Alfredo ASTIZ during the Falklands War.He has a BA degree in history and politics and is a keen photographer. In retirement he owns and manages a woodland in West Sussex - the cover photograph of his first novel A Secret Existence is of his woodland. Killers Assassins and Spies is the sequel to his first novel. Climate of Fear: Betray Me and Die is the third novel in the DCI Ben Swan series. The crime novels are fiction, but drawn from the author's knowledge and experiences: and he has taken care not to breach the Official Secrets Act.He donates all royalties from the sale of his three novels to St Catherine’s Hospice (Mid Sussex) in gratitude for the support and love their Palliative Care Team gave his daughter. He also undertakes talks to local groups/associations, titled My Life of Crime, and book signings with all fees donated to St Catherine’s.
