Dominique FOURNIER (Author)
The author, Dominique FOURNIER, has the chance to approach the horses from a very young age thanks to a grandfather who works as a farrier. Much later, after graduating from the Alfort Veterinary School, he spends his military period at the clinic of the National Equitation School in Saumur (Cadre Noir) as an aspirant veterinarian. A 20-year very long parenthesis then was elapsing while he was pursuing his career as a veterinary specialist in the field of avian infectious diseases. But he does not escape his destiny…and thanks to his youngest daughter Mathilde, whose passion for horses begins at the age of eight, he takes over the reins with fervor and admiration for this singular animal. He again immerses himself in his equine medicine courses left on his student shelves… recovers his old stethoscope and soon, as a good specialist, recognizes the symptoms of a love dating back more than 10,000 years in human history and commonly called «the horse virus». But the Vet accepts his destiny and rather than finding an antidote, he contaminates his wife, Marie-Christine, taking with him this other eternal animal lover in the adventure. The horses put a spell on them and will not leave the family. They have the chance to play in an equestrian center where we learn outdoor riding and where we approach the horse training by borrowing principles from the famous American trainers Ray Hunt and John Lyons. They pursue their equestrian research and begin looking for a true horseman who could pass on his knowledge to their daughter Mathilde. Then they discover an exceptional squire master in Christian JEVAUDAN, in the Drôme Provençale (southern France region), who will become a family friend. Since that meeting, the author has never stopped researching the basis of horsemanship. He takes lots of notes during talks and exchanges with Christian JEVAUDAN, as well as during his extensive reading of the writings released by the great masters. Once retired, he decides to write down and format all his notes. Initially, the book was intended for his daughters Mathilde and Geneviève. Once completed, it appears that the book could be extremely useful to anyone taking up horse riding, providing many basic pieces of information on riding techniques, characteristics of this wonderful animal, history of horse riding and history of the great riding master which are very well-educating.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
