He is a handsome, gay heart-breaker. It's been fun for me to see how Bill has evolved over these eight novels into a more complex, caring, compassionate, and mature character. And not only Bill; there are other recurring characters who have become my fictional family. These include Blake Carter, Aidan Pierce, and Will Ortega.In my last job before retirement, the kernel of the idea for my first whodunit—"Death in a Fair Place"— began to germinate. Retirement gave me the leisure to write. It took a while for me to figure out the structure of "Death" and to find my "voice", but, finally, in 2012 it went live on Amazon. What a rush that was!My SECOND book in the series—"Dread in a Fair Place"—seemed to write itself and was published in 2013. Both "Death" and "Dread" take place in an independent high school located in fictional Creighton Manor, in Marin County.BOOK THREE —"Deceit in a Fair Place"—shifts the setting to the local fictional teaching hospital. That change in location provided me with a way to revisit a period of time when I worked in health care administration,.BOOK FOUR — "Greed in a Fair Place" was released in September 2017. Again we return to Creighton Manor, that upscale nest of crime and passion. The evil-doer is based on an actual and well-known scoundrel. Felkin is once again put through his paces. The story resolves itself when the villain gets his just desserts in a way I found satisfying, although that's not what happened in real life.BOOK FIVE — "Betrayal in a Fair Place" involves scandal in Creighton Manor's high-society. The villainness in this story is loosely based on a real person, though the actual misdeed has been altered. I also introduced a new character—Will Ortega. Will is a newly homeless gay teen, who attends the Pemberly Oaks School. He has become one of my favorite characters and I've had a number of readers tell me that they're very fond of him.BOOK SIX—"Mayhem in a Fair Place" differs from the previous five in that the villain is not based on anyone I've encountered in real life (thank the heavens). It was a challenge to create a believable character (at least to me) who did what I had him do in the book. We meet up again with Felkin, Blake, Aidan, and Will and learn what's been going on in their lives.BOOK SEVEN — In "Revenge in a Fair Place" a dreadful wrong has been perpetrated and and someone has a fierce desire to right it. There's a longing for revenge and the discovery of a newly found talent. Coupled with a recently discovered entrepreneurial skill, vengeance is in the air.
