Joe Putnam joined the armed forces at the age of 18 and through the next 23 years served in all components of the Army and one of the Air Force. He was commissioned as an airborne infantry officer at the age of 20 and saw combat in the Mekong Delta of South Viet Nam where he was decorated four times for heroism and twice for flying fifty combat missions. After retiring from active duty, he was Director of Army Instruction, teaching Junior ROTC for 11 years in two school districts in south Texas. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's degree in public health from the University of Oklahoma. Joe started writing as a hobby and has published multiple books including "Seal with a Kiss", "An American Adviser in Viet Nam - My Story", "Canceling America" and "A Journey into the Unexplained" (all are available on Amazon). He is working on two other books for publication in the near future. Four of his narrative non-fiction articles were published in Christian Voice Magazine and he has also written screen plays and editorials for newspapers in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Dallas. His wife, Tatyana, is a native of Russia; she holds a master's degree in engineering economics from Leningrad Polytechnical Institute. They live in Oklahoma with Dasha, their incredibly intelligent Belgian Malinois. They have traveled in Europe, Asia, Africa and America and enjoy marksmanship and conservative politics.
