Gerry Barrow lives in Tinidad with his wife, Shaheeba, and three children, Mickhaiel, Khalid and Sofiya. He taught science and machine shop at Malick Composite school for one year, after which he won a government scholarship to train as a pilot.Immediately on graduation from flying school he was hired with the national Airline, BWIA, now called Caribbean Airlines. He flew many different types of aircraft, from turbo-props to jets, and retired after 32 years.Gerry has a wide range of interests, no doubt inspired by his father, Dr. Russell Barrow, who was an expert on everything. In introducing Gerry to a group of scientists, an astronomer friend said, “If I told you all Gerry does we’ll be here whole day.”‘Boy Days’ covers his life in Glencoe, starting at age five, through primary school, college, university in Jamaica, flying school and hair raising experiences in the air and at sea.
