Tanya Denise (formerly DeFreitas) is the Founder & Executive Director of the International Association of Women Authors (IAWA), the world's leading global network for women who write. She is a self-published, international, best-selling author, anthologist, book and writing coach. Born Latanya Hampton, in Pasadena, California, Tanya has been writing since she was a young girl, beginning her journey with poetry and short stories, then gradually growing into newsletters, newspapers, independent magazines, journals, then books. In her working career, Tanya developed a digital corporate newsletter and was appointed Editor-in-Chief for a large corporation. She later became a website & social media content manager for a government agency. Tanya has successfully written scholarship and grant applications, securing funding for her education, for small and large nonprofit organizations. An advocate for higher education, Tanya served as an Admissions Advisor for a vocational college, and she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, with a concentration (minor) in Communication and Technology. Tanya also holds an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, and two technical education certificates, as a computerized Administrative Assistant and Accounting Clerk. She has a postbaccalaureate certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT), one in Psychology, and she is a certified book publisher.In 2019, Tanya birthed a long-time dream of a scholarship fund. The Ardena Marie Carter Memorial (AMCM) Scholarship is an education award for at-risk, female, high school seniors. The fund and award were created to honor Tanya's childhood friend whose life was tragically taken many years ago by domestic violence. The Time to Tell Foundation, also founded by Tanya, is the parent organization for this fund and provides academic, writing, and publishing scholarships, based on funding availability. Tanya is a serial entrepreneur and she is a certified Domestic Violence Specialist. Her first anthology series titled, "Pretty Sad," includes five volumes of stories about the extraordinary strength of women who have overcome trauma, including abuse, addiction, depression, prostitution, and more. "Pretty Sad" is the first book series under the #timetotell movement. The movement was created by Tanya to help women tell their stories of going from tragedy to triumph! Pretty Sad was the #1 new release on Amazon in December 2019 and became a best seller!In 2018, Tanya founded Love Wins Publishing (www.lovewinspub.com), to assist new and aspiring female writers in becoming published authors. She has published more than 55 of her own books, including journals, anthologies, workbooks, self-help books, devotionals, and her memoir. In addition, Tanya has helped more than 350 writers become first-time published authors. Love Wins Publishing now serves men and children writers, also.Tanya has a heart for helping others. Her passion has led to the receipt of several community awards, including Woman of the Year by the Antelope Valley Ad Hoc Committee on Education.
