After migrating to the United States at a young age with her mother through marriage, Sequoia soon finds out her once happy life was about to be turned upside down. After the death of her step father, Sequoia and her mother went on the run and were left to fend for themselves on the streets.

Just when Sequoia thought things could not get worse, her mother dies and she is left alone in a life of poverty.
