As a child, Priscilla Miller was a W.W.II Gold Star Orphan. She didn’t begin her writing career until after her five children were raised and she retired to northern Michigan. In 2004, ‘dear little angel girl..... Letters Home’ based on letters, her father sent her, in 1943 just days prior to his untimely death while serving in the Navy, made the front page of the Northern Living Section, in the Father’s Day Edition of the Traverse City Record Eagle. Within a short period of time, her feature stories began appearing on a regular basis in several northern Michigan newspapers. Three of her stories have appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul books. In 2009 she wrote and published her first book, Reflections at the Water’s Edge: An Illustrated History of the Alden Area which featured the personal photos and memories of long term residents, along with photos from the archives of Alden’s Depot Museum. In 2014 she fulfilled a promise made to her young son over forty years ago, that “someday” she would write a story about his beloved Teddy Bear, “McGillicutty” when she published a full color, rhyming children’s book, ‘McGillicutty: A Very Special Bear’. Illustrated by award winning artist, Mary Guntzviller.In her latest book ‘Remmy: A Hero Dog of War’ Miller tells how an article she wrote;“Hero Dogs Of War” published in the Elk Rapids News, would eventually lead to a reunion between Remmy, a retired military service dog and his handler who served with the hero dog in Afghanistan. With this reunion, the story of how this brave IED (bomb dog) was responsible for saving the lives of many members of our military was revealed.In 2015 Miller was featured as the 'Author Next Door' by the Traverse City, National Writer's Series and once again in 2016.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
