Henri Colt is a physician-writer and adventure traveler who authors medical textbooks and works of fiction and nonfiction. He is an Emeritus Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California and an international scholar. Dr. Colt is also an award-winning medical educator, ethicist, Pushcart Prize-nominated author, and philosophical practitioner. He lectures about medical education, ethics, art, film, and philosophy on six continents. More than thirty years of experience caring for critically or terminally ill patients fuels Professor Colt’s writing about human relationships and emotions. His collection of Flash Fiction, 30 Stories about Life & Death, was published in 2022. In his book, Becoming Modigliani, Henri uses a medical through-line to study the art, life, and social context of Jewish-Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, who died of tuberculous meningitis in early 20th century Paris at the age of thirty-five.
