Issei Takehara was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1983. He has studied History of Philosophy in Canada. He has a B.A. in Philosophy from Concordia University, Montreal, and holds an M.A. in History of Philosophy from Western Ontario University, London, ON, Canada. He has always been interested in a variety of topics that is popularly known but has been understudied, but with a particular interest in soul or medical philosophy. He has given presentations on a variety of topics, such as on Ninja Science, the Haitian Zombifcation and its antidotes, Medicinal Cannibalism, Alchemy and much more (see for details in my blogpost). His speciality is Early Modern European philosophy, however, and he is particularly interested in the philosophy of Aristotle, Descartes, Leibniz and Immanuel Kant. He wishes to bridge between the Western philosophy and Eastern ideas and thoughts and do comparative studies.As one of his recent attempt on interdisciplinary studies, "Philosophy, Soul, Politics and Power in Dragon Ball Z" drew attention and was published as a chapter in the book, Anime, Philosophy and Religion, by Vernon Press and sold on Amazon. His current project is on how Yōkai monsters came to be into existence and what its social implication as well as how it affected people's lives in the social history of Japan. He is currently working as a full-time online Japanese/English teacher since 2019 and have taught over 230 individual students, with some of whom he is keeping in personal touch.
