What if you could journey back to 1938, where three young American sisters found themselves swept up in the elegance and turmoil of pre-war Italy?Americanata: Three Sisters in Italy, 1938 by Becky Fahrig Landrum and Mike Landrum offers just that—a captivating memoir that takes you from the midwestern heart of small-town America to the thrilling nightclub life in the city of Milan in fascist Italy. We meet Becky, Blossom and Harriet, three young middle-class American girls from Joplin, Missouri as they explore the sophisticated expat society beneath the impending shadow of World War II.

We watch through twenty-year-old Becky’s eyes as she absorbs one exhilarating new experience after another: crossing the Atlantic on a luxurious ocean liner, touring the exotic ports of the Mediterranean and the cities of fascist Italy, even seeing Mussolini himself. As they meet people from all over the world, many of whom are fleeing the threat of war, they grow wiser, form deep friendships, and even fall in love.

But this story is more than just a historical time capsule—it’s a deeply personal coming of age journey. Becky reflects on how that extraordinary year has shaped her character and in a postscript by her son, Mike, we learn the many ways her year in Italy continues into her subsequent life as a mother, wife, social leader, and inspiration to her many friends.

Experience the thrill of this uniquely true adventure. Let it transport you back to a world now vanished.

Becky can tell you that once, before history intervened, there was a golden life filled with happy people. Order your copy today and embark on a journey of a lifetime that will stay with you long after you turn the last page.
