I was born in New York City in 1953 to older parents, from whom I doubtless acquired my affinity for classic literature, the silver screen and Tin Pan Alley. After graduating Vassar in 1975 with a B.A. in English, I lived in Boston for a year, married my college sweetheart and relocated with him to Southern California. We divorced when I was in my middle twenties, just around the time I became a copywriter and editor for the then burgeoning adult magazine industry. Moving into the fetish niche, which was always my overwhelming interest, I began self publishing my Shadow Lane novel series in 1986. In 1991, Shadow Lane was picked up by Blue Moon Books, then owned by the legendary free speech crusader, Barney Rosset and paperback editions of my books began to be distributed in both America and Europe. By this time I had met my life partner, now husband, Tony Elka, and together we began to publish magazines such as Stand Corrected, under the Shadow Lane imprint. At this time, taking advantage of the video revolution of the 80's, we began to release our own saucy, female friendly spanking videos, print personal ads publications and host scene parties. My Shadow Lane books follow the adventures of spanking enthusiasts of both sexes and reflect many of my own experiences as a writer, publisher, video producer, model and party hostess. Over the last twenty five years, hundreds of readers have written to me to share their own experiences in the scene and let me know how much encouragement they received from my books to go out and have their own adventures. I think of my books as the irreverent antidote to such somber classics of bdsm as The Story of O. The female characters of Shadow Lane are free wheeling and guiltless in pursuit of their spanking dreams and the male ones aren't oppressive bores. Because when they are, they get set straight. I coined the phrase The Romance of Discipline to describe the essence of my erotic novels. But they are also satires of scene etiquette and behavior in contemporary times, when there is so much information available that there is no longer any excuse for not being sophisticated about all matters sexual.I'm currently working on my twelfth Shadow Lane book, Rogue Mistress, which I expect to complete by the autumn. My new publisher, CBB Publications, has brought out collector editions of all my books, with glossy color covers, illustrated by our Shadow Lane illustrator of the last twenty plus years, Brian Tarsis. Some of the books also include black and white plates by Tarsis, illustrating various scenes from the novels. All are available on Amazon.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
