Prof. Maurice Nyamanga Amutabi is Full Professor and Director for the Centre for Science and Technology Studies at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA as History Major and Minor in Political Science and Comparative Gender). He received hisB.A (Hons) in Political Science and History from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and M.A in Economic History from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Prof. Amutabi is the author of over 60 books, among them The NGO Factor in Africa: The Case of Arrested Development in Kenya (New York: Routledge, 2006) and over 100 articles in refereed journals and edited books. Prof. Amutabi has taught at Moi University, Central Washington University, Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Kisii University, Masinde University of Science and Technology, Hekima University College, Lukenya University, and Visiting Professor at Linkoping University (Sweden), and is external examiner at the University of Zambia, University of Witwatersrand, Cape Peninsula University, University of South Africa, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Technical University of Kenya, Africa Nazarene University, University of Kabianga, St. Paul’s University, among others. He is the Chairperson of the Board of Management of the Centre for Democracy, Research and Development.
