Born into a farming community in rural Pennsylvania, Grant Harting decided at an early age that he hated farming and instead wanted to pursue a career in Pharming. Remarkable grades in middle school, specifically in the sciences, pushed Grant in a science-heavy direction. While most children waited until their 20th or 40th birthday to decide what they wanted to do with their lives, Grant officially began his journey into the realm of pharmacy and, coincidentally, writing by penning his 8th-grade research paper on the history and job description of a pharmacist at the tender age of 14. After a quick six years at Duquesne University and a measly $290k in student loan debt, it became very clear that Grant’s 8th-grade research paper taught him nothing as he found himself in a career he hated more than life itself with a debt burden large enough to plague most people until their late 40s.After three long years in a traditional corporate retail pharmacy setting, Grant officially decided enough was enough and spent the better part of six months researching every aspect of the hiring process outside of retail pharmacy. Upon finding his way into a career he loved, he noticed other pharmacists constantly asked him how he made the jump out of retail pharmacy, and thus, “How to Escape Retail Pharmacy Hell” was born.Grant graduated from Duquesne University in 2017 with Doctorate of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science degrees. As a student, Grant describes his performance as “consistently in the top half of his graduating class.” As a pharmacist, Grant describes himself as “too creative to work in a traditional retail setting.”Grant now lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
