Author Name
Bob Hocking (Author)
Bob graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in English. While at school, he began working with the campus ambulance service, which developed into a decent medical background. Naturally, with an English degree and medical background, the majority of his professional career has been spent in other fields. In March of 2003, Bob brought his writing efforts to the web with his own site, In My Backpack. (www.inmybackpack.com) Over the years, the site has included general interest essays, sports and travel material, and has captured the flavors-of-the-day in an on-going journal entry segment. He has conducted hundreds of interviews, many of which have appeared on his site. Considering himself “a writer with a camera” hasn’t stopped him from creating a sizeable portfolio.Read more about this authorRead less about this author

Debuting in July of 2016, A Parkside View is a monthly newsletter from author Bob Hocking. This collection features two years of material, from the issues released in 2022 and 2023.

Bob has assembled all of the essays here, from the works debuting exclusively in each edition to the efforts on its pages that were pulled from his archives. All fifty-nine essays from Volume 7 and Volume 8 of the newsletter are included, along with five essays that are being shared only in this title.

Inside this effort: “Bring on the apple crisp” – “Dumb old Bob and the dashboard of doom” – “Not a peep” – “The wildflowers” – “My dime, your dime, our dime” – “Welcome to the chaos” – “Not when I was young” – and more. The A Parkside View project is a neighborhood found in Backpackville, a community of efforts that began with Bob’s website, In My Backpack.

A Parkside View: Volumes 7 & 8 is his fifteenth published book. You can learn more about him, the In My Backpack site, Backpackville and A Parkside View inside the book and by visiting him online.

(www. inmybackpack.

com)The newsletter is free—sign up at the website or on any of Bob’s social media pages—and the Volumes 1 & 2, Volumes 3 & 4, and Volumes 5 & 6 collection titles join with this release to capture all the essays published in the first eight years of A Parkside View. .
