Putting on a high school play is a bitch! But what if witches, psychics, mean girls, a demon and maybe even a lil romance were added to the mix? The New Orleans High School for the Visual and Performing Arts even has a football team…perfunctory though it may be. Come along for a (broomstick) ride and see what’s brewing at the NOLA.

High school sophomore Winnie Deatherage has one driving goal—to win the lead in her school play. In preparation for auditions, she takes her first steps into the world of magic, embracing the voodoo traditions of her New Orleans hometown and channeling the dormant part of her that seems to find spells and magic natural, even familiar.

With the support of her loyal, tongue-in-cheek crew of best friends, Winnie lets her newfound magical prowess guide her to conquer the mean girls, pursue her crush, and, of course, gain her fame on her high school stage. Soon enough, Winnie is a natural at magic, and has even drawn another magical presence into her world—the director’s mysterious assistant Devlin, who not only seems to be watching her with more attention than he gives the other students, but also seems to have access to her inner thoughts.
