Rev. Albert (Pastor) Guthrie has served as a Pastor for fifty-three years; serving in various pastorates and has also ministered in other churches as guest speaker. He has a bachelor’s degree in professional studies, a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Christian Family Counseling, and an honorary doctorate in divinity. He is married with two beloved children and three beautiful and adorable grandchildren. He has a very deep and passionate love for the Lord Jesus and for people, and he has dedicated his life to be a servant of God; humbly serving in various capacities within the body of Christ. After becoming a believer and committing his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, his one goal has been to see people commit their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and remain faithful in their walk with Him. He remembers when he first gave his life to the Lord in March of 1960, he felt lost as to what was expected of him; he had a hunger to read the Bible but did not have a grasp as to what he was reading, let alone the big picture. He is now retired but is motivated by his early experience to write a book that he hopes will continue to be a blessing to young Christians especially, for many years to come.This book is therefore written to help those who, like himself, struggled in his early years of walking with the Lord to get acquainted with the Bible in the journey of loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. He believes the Bible is one continuous story from Genesis to Revelation, and the assertion that the New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament and the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament is a true statement. The Old Testament essentially deals with types, metaphors, hyperbole, allegories, etc. Everything in the Old Testament, including the prophecies concerning His birth, point to Jesus the coming Messiah. This book that he has written will take the reader from eternity past to eternity future, which is an overview of the Bible. The book is titled: “A Bible Handbook for Beginners.” He recommends that all believers, especially new believers in the faith, read this book before beginning a study of the Bible. The Bible is the most amazing book in the entire world with treasures to live by. It will always put us on the right path in life. We are admonished by the Lord Himself to “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39Pastor Guthrie was born in the Island of Jamaica and raised on a small farm where he learned what it means to be a hard worker and this has stayed with him throughout his life. He is a very driven person. He has a very strong prayer life and prays for people and situations around the world on a daily basis. God loves everyone and it grieves His heart deeply when a soul fails to make it right with Him before it’s too late.
